Welcome
to Ethans Chickens
Hello my name
is Ethan and I am seven years old I love Chickens! (actually,
I like lots of creatures, especially, chickens, wolves and any bugs!
Here is my
blog about chickens and how to care for them and maybe one day you may grow to
love chickens as much as I do.
Chickens need
lots of love and attention, and if you do, they will reward you with lots of
eggs for your breakfast, lunch and dinner, scrambled, fried, poached mm yummy
eggs!
You will need
a chicken coup in order to keep your chickens safe from foxes and other animals
which might attack them or steel the eggs, but during the day they can free
wonder around your garden, or you can have a fenced in area called a chicken
run.
There are lots
of different types of chickens and we will look at some of these a little later
in my blog.
Chickens eat
lots of different things, but they do need grit to help them digest it, it also
helps make the egg shells nice and strong.
A good source of grit is oyster shells ground up which you can buy from
most good farm outlets.
Its very important they have access to fresh water,
chicken can drink a pint of water a day each, and it must be clean and
fresh. You don’t want to make them
poorly with poor sanitary conditions, just remember you want to eat the eggs
they produce too! So cleanliness is key. They also like lots of greens, such as
lettuce, but be sure to wash it. Some
left over human foods can be fed to chickens, but don’t give them too much
fatty foods its not healthy for them.
